Tips for Better Print Design
When it comes to printing projects, it is easy to get stuck in a routine. We like to encourage clients who have been working with us for a while to try new things every so often, just to mix it up. As we prepare for a new year, it is a great time to do exactly that. Our team of graphic design and printing experts at EBA Printing have a few tips to share that can help give your printed items a fresh new look.
Modern Typography
It is amazing how great of an impact typography can make on printed pieces. Outdated or overused fonts do not have much of a “wow” factor. If you have been using the same font for a while, consider looking for a similar – but updated – version. If you are known for a signature font, consider mixing in something new for your headings or elsewhere. It may be worth purchasing a font or two if they will improve the look of your designs!
Invert Your Colors
Have a bit of information that needs some extra attention on your design? Rather than simply making the text larger or bold, consider inverting your colors. If most of your piece is black text on a white background, switch to a white text on a black background sporadically for greater impact. You are best off sticking to larger font sizes (greater than 12pt) when doing this. Small fonts in light colors can appear fuzzy on dark backgrounds.
Less Is More
While it is important to get relevant information onto your piece, the “less is more” adage is a great one to follow. Work with your team (or a professional copywriter if you have access to one) to determine what is truly necessary. From there, you can develop a layout that is both visually appealing and informative.
The talented graphic designers at EBA Printing are able to help you through the entire process. Whether you are in need of a full design or just a bit of advice, get in touch today to speak with a representative.
